The grant monies will be used for the Wabash County Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) program and to purchase intervention materials for probation officers and community corrections officers. MRT is a systematic treatment strategy that seeks to decrease recidivism among juvenile and adult criminal offenders by increasing moral reasoning. Its cognitive-behavioral approach combines elements from a variety of psychological traditions to progressively address ego, social, moral, and positive behavioral growth. MRT takes the form of group and individual counseling using structured group exercises and prescribed homework assignments. Wabash County Probation works hard to address all of the needs of our adult and juvenile population. All with the goal of improving their lives as well as the health and well-being of our entire community. According to Sarah Lochner, Chief Probation Officer, the grant money will be used solely within the confines of Wabash County to allow the probation officers to provide people either on probation, serving a sentence in community corrections or transitioning home from prison with essential life skills to get their lives on the right track. “Without the generous support of the Community Foundation, programs like this would not be possible. Because of their generosity, Wabash County Probation is able to provide hope and a better approach to life for the people we serve. All of Wabash County benefits from programming such as this.” The Community Foundation Grant was prepared by Wabash County Alcohol and Drug Court Program Director Brian Bassett, after learning about the Community Foundation’s efforts utilize the “Good Deeds Grant Funding” to address substance abuse, addiction, and mental health needs within Wabash County. October 2015- Indiana Justice Reinvestment Council Grant Recommendations: The Wabash County Probation Department was awarded $228,800.00 in grant funding from the Indiana Department of Correction to add three new positions to support the consolidation of the Wabash County Community Corrections Program and the Wabash County Probation Department, as well as, to support the implementation of a Re-Entry Court. The Wabash County Re-Entry Court will be an Indiana Judicial Center certified Problem Solving Court and will address the needs of high to moderate risk offenders returning the community following a term of incarceration. Top grant recipients in the State included: Marion County 1.1 million for work release and home detention programs, Wabash County $228,800.00 for expansion of probation services and Re-Entry Court program, St Joseph County $189,000.00 for expansion of work release and educational services, Allen County $184,400.00 for expansion of home detention programming and probation services, Lawrence County $180,500.00 for the continuation of problem solving courts; domestic violence and alcohol and drug courts, Grant County- $171,500.00 for expansion of probation services, and Lake County $159,500.00 for expansion of work release program. "Wabash County hopes to create a true consolidated Judicial system with Wabash County Court Services- our hope is to become a leader in corrections and solidify our status as an evidence based agency, focused on public safety, rehabilitation, and sustained change for our participants. We want to be a part of keeping the community safe, helping people find success, and building healthy families within Wabash County and the State of Indiana." DRUG SCREEN TESTING HOURS: Monday-Friday 8:00 am-11:00 am 1:00 pm- 3:30 pm Urine Drug Screens- $15.00 Oral Drug Screens-$25.00 DRUG SCREEN REQUIREMENT STATUS CALL-IN DIRECTIONS: Directions: Please note each probationer will be directed by their individual officer of their responsibility to utilize the Sentry System Call-in Feature. Each individual probationer has specific Identification Number (IVR number) to inform the Sentry System of who they are. I am aware that I am responsible for calling between the hours of 1:00 AM and 9:59 AM (Closes at 10:00 AM) to see if I test Monday-Sunday. Although I may call in to see if I can test between the stated hours above, I must report to test at Wabash County Probation during the hours they are open for testing. Failure to do so could lead to a sanction/revocation. Failure to submit on the day I am required to could lead to a sanction/revocation.
